Posts » Living locally is good for us

We were told a lie. Global isn’t for good for us. Local is. Throughout the history of our species we were local, and that’s where our skills and adaptations thrive.

While I can (and I do) feel pity for all bad things going out in the world, there’s little I can do. I chip in to UN’s World Food Programme and others. My work doesn’t hurt other people. I try to consume goods in a mindful way. But otherwise I do my best to use local resources for living. Take a walk or ride an old recycled bike instead of driving my (old) car. Or eat local food rather than one that had to travel around the globe.

It’s the globalization that got us in the mess of global warming, where hundreds of planes transport goods from Asia to Europe and US each day alone. Where the society is engineered to be perfect consumers, who always consumes more in a world that changes with every tick of clock (as it seems).

Global is fast. Way to fast for most of us.

But local isn’t. I choose local as much as I can and as much as it’s possible..
