Posts » My software development practices augumented by Claude
Straight to the point, here's what I do these days.
I've subscribed to a $20 Claude Pro plan and use it only inside the browser.
I find it really helpful at:
- reworking HTML prototypes my team sends me
- rewriting those prototypes into native iOS or Android code
- coming up with API requirements for server code
- discussing technical-related topics
I feel like 3x more productive than before.
Why not a higher plan?
I don't even use Claude's $20 plan fully. The model usage which resets weekly is at 40-50% max.
Why not Claude Code?
I don't trust Claude Code running on my computer, plus with my approach I'm still responsible for putting things together, building backend API (thanks to Elixir I have so much fun doing it), and I understanding apps inside out. Being 5x or 10x more productive is not worth it.
Why not agents?
Don't even get me started - I find the idea ridiculous, plus see the points above and the title - I want the process to be augumented not taken over.
Overall I'm happy with how it goes.
Would I go back to the old way? Sure, if I had to.
Even if Claude's Pro plan goes to $100 I'll manage it.
p.s. Good luck if your development pipeline now requires tens of thousands dollars worth of tokens. You may have to start over one day.
